We've been celebrating LOVE for this special month of February. We call it our Love Month where we focus on God's amazing love for us and how He calls us to love Him and love others in His Word. We gear all of our devotion times and Bible reading around love passages, hoping to glean and grow in the love of Christ. It's one of my favorite times to look forward to all year!
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God."
1 John 4:7
We've made crafts.
(Fruit Loop necklaces...always a hit!)
We've made Valentines.
Elka always has something creatively fun up her sleeve for the little ones.
She even had them memorize and march outside in a line to recite their Bible verse with hand motions for us all. So cute.
"God is love."
1 John 4:16
So proud.
"In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another."
1 John 4:9-11
We've made cookies...
...and our traditional heart shaped pink pancakes.
With whipped cream and heart sprinkles of course!
It was a Valentine's Day feast!
Our Love Month wouldn't be complete without our highly anticipated heart shaped pizzas!
It's quite the orchestration, but totally worth it!
Willow shared the big heart with Mommy and Daddy while the others made their own.
{Can you guess who made which pizza???}
We have received and expressed our love from and for our dear neighbors.
What a blessing to live in such a sweet community where neighbors truly act like neighbors around here.
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Mark 12:31
On Valentine's Day, Daddy surprised his girls with a rose for each of them just after he presented me with the ones
he had brought home for his wife (along with See's candies :)). Such a good hubby/daddy he is.
(Thanks for the fun pic, Aida!)
Thank you for making everything special, Brodie!!
Blessed daughters.
(hometown hero)
There's something very special about a father's love.
"No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us."
1 John 4:12
This month, we've sown seeds of love...literally and figuratively.
We've been blessed by labors of love from the kids and Oma and Funny Grandpa.
(Always working hard in the garden together as a team!)
My family blessed me with lots of birthday love.
They surprised me with this beautiful snow fountain weeping cherry blossom tree...I LOVE it!
It may be bare right now, but it is ready to bloom. It stands outside my kitchen window, central in the garden,
as a constant reminder for my heart of God's faithfulness and how He makes beauty from ashes.
"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified."
Isaiah 61:3
"Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning."
Psalm 30:5
Praise the Lord!
They also got all the supplies to start our raised bed vegetable garden. I can't wait to start growing!
Such a fun bday project...still in the works. Spring is in the air!!
(We plan for 4 more boxes and an enclosure around. I love working together in the garden!)
"For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome."
1 John 5:3
This month, we added another new family member to love,
Elsie.
(We're all excited to love her new baby/babies coming soon too!)
The girls dressed up their real live baby doll, Willow, in her XO onesie on Valentine's Day.
(This girl...melts her mama's (and everyone's) heart.)
There's definitely been a lot of pink...
(these 2)
...and there's definitely been a lot of LOVE.
"By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth."
1 John 3:16-18
(these 2 too)
Brodie and I enjoyed our first date night on our balcony in quite a while since I had been so sick with the pregnancy since early December. What a special time in our favorite spot under the stars and especially so with his Valentine's gift...a fire pit just for 2.
(A perfect date...I love you, Brodie!!)
"I found him whom my soul loves. I held him, and would not let him go."
Song of Solomon 3:4
How I love this season of celebrating God's great LOVE. It always reminds us of what matters most and ingrains in our hearts what the Bible has to say about love. It's so important and well worth our focus every February. It's been a wonderful Love Month indeed.
And it's not over yet...
"Love is patient and kind;
love does not envy or boast;
it is not arrogant or rude.
It does not insist on its own way;
it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice at wrongdoing,
but rejoices with the truth.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
Love never ends."
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
