Ever since Poppy and Daisy joined the family, we have discovered our new love for goats.
Aida had decided that she wanted to buy a goat to call her own and she had her eye on a few at the same farm where Poppy and Daisy had come from. Finally, the day arrived (insert crazy story here) to go and make her final, thoughtful choice.
Introducing Elsie...
Elsie is a Nigerian Dwarf goat just like the others and she is pregnant, which is an extra exciting bonus! Elsie has a wise look in her eyes. She also has a small hole in her ear from being tagged by her original owner. We like the idea that she once was a number, but now she has a name and a place to call home with a family where she can live out her days well-loved and at peace.
Nigerian Dwarf goats can have anywhere from 1-5 babies at a time, so Lord willing,
we'll be adding at least one more baby goat to the family some time this spring! Won't that be an adventure!
(the official welcoming committee)
Though Poppy was hesitant about her new roommate at first, Daisy jumped around and twirled with excitement as if having another mama goat around was some sort of prize she had won! Daisy loves everyone and everything. She's always exuberant and happy!
Cutie Daisy...She loves her rocks!
Poppy is a protective mommy and has every right to take her time to warm up to Elsie, but I'm sure it won't take long,
especially considering they share a deep and profound love for alfalfa hay...It's bonding.
Welcome to the family, Elsie. You'll be very loved and well taken care of here.

he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young."
