HOW HE WORKS

"Encourage the fainthearted."
1 Thessalonians 5:14

She smiled at me with excitement in her eyes, seeing my lab orders before the draw...

"When are you due?" she asked eagerly, not knowing.

It was one of those heart-sinking moments.

I went on to tell her that I was actually confirming a(nother) miscarriage and her whole demeanor shifted of course, but not necessarily in pity. She knew the Lord. She went on to encourage me in ways that strangers don't often. And I followed with more of my testimony, then she more of hers. It was one of the real, raw encounters in life that I love where the body of Christ met in an unlikely place and He was there and He used us to speak His comfort to one another and it wasn't the only time since I've endured these pains upon pains that He's taken shattered pieces and made something beautifully mosaic and surely it won't be the last and isn't that just how He works?

...and he bought me a weeping plum tree on the way home.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
