We had our first date today, Noble and I. It was really sweet. What started out as an errand turned into a mommy/son memory and we broke the ice again. Firsts...there are many of them.
It hasn't been seamless. It hasn't been easy. This little person, my Noble, he's had a challenging start. But, I have to say the challenges are part of what make the sweet moments like today so sweet. The heartaches are what make the smiles and laughs so memorable. The rejections are what make the hugs and kisses so amazingly joyous when we receive them. And, the trials of walls built up are what make the crumbling of coping mechanisms so triumphant.
So, today, my son and I ventured out together for the first time just the two of us. He yelled, "Mommy!" many times and I caught the glances of onlookers who tried to figure us out and I was comfortable...a good sign. He's my son and I'm his mommy and we had a special time together today on our first date.
