2012...It was a good year...a year of preparation, a year of travels to Africa for Brodie (Malawi, South Africa, and the DRC), a year of anticipation, and a year of adoption as we welcomed home Noble and India.
What will 2013 bring??? This morning as I've been reflecting on the past year and pondering the new year impending, one thing is crystal clear:
Unless the LORD builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Psalm 127:1
those who build it labor in vain.
Psalm 127:1
The past year of our lives belonged to the Lord. The next year belongs to Him too. Our future is His. Our lives are a piece to the puzzle of His story.
It's not about us...It's not about our kids or our family or our story, though God uses those vessels for His glory. But, we remind ourselves often that "it's just life on earth" and it's a blink, a vapor. Everything we have and do and are is only useful in light of eternity, so by God's grace, may we live it as such!
As I welcome the new year from afar, I'm openhanded, expectant, filled with childlike faith, and hopeful that God will use our family to accomplish great things for Him, through Him.
What will 2013 bring??? Only He knows...but I'm ready...are you?
"Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”—yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15
