LITTLE WOMEN

We went to the theater this past weekend to see our friends in a musical production of Little Women.

It was wonderful!

Olia was particularly enamored, the little actress that she is.
I loved watching her, all lit up in the dark.

It was emotional and deep and sweet and a great time, though my heart was torn as one of my littlest women was at the hospital with her daddy while we were at the play. She had to unexpectedly go in for an ultrasound just at the same time as this outing we'd planned for so long. She had her daddy with her, of course, but oh how divided my mother's heart!

I found myself trying to focus, knowing I couldn't be two places at once, though my heart truly was.
I was with my little Nova and also with my blooming little women at the show...both. I was.

The story of Jo and Beth as the little sister grows ill and eventually passes away, along with the stellar performance of our talented friend in the role of Marmee was enough to get my wheels spinning.

I couldn't help but think of the daughters God has blessed me with here in my real life time.
Me, the "Marmee" and they my "Little Women"...6 of them under my wing. They are as dear to me as the loving relationships in the story of the March family and all the more as this is non-fiction.

It's interesting how events such as those of this weekend can remind us of things like the brevity of life and the preciousness of it all.

When the curtain draws and we take our last bow, what legacy remains?

I'll take it...any reminders I can soak in. I'll savor the days while I can and look for the perspective I need for each day.
They may touch us at times so deeply it hurts, but they're worth it, these blessed gifts...these real life little women.

"I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois
and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well."
