28 DAYS OF HEARTS

28 Days of Hearts

At a time when heart surgery felt daunting, I was introduced to a blog called 28 Days of Hearts. It documents stories of Chinese children living with CHD like Bea and Beck and also hopes to advocate for others like them who need families.

When I was asked to contribute this year I felt nervous. How could I adequately share what God has done through Bea and Beck's stories? Jokingly, I told my sister, who is currently adopting a Chinese daughter with CHD, that I thought Brodie should share instead, "You know, a father's perspective," I reasoned. To which she replied, "That's actually a great idea!" Hmmm...

And so I asked Brodie what he thought. After all, he is the one at most of the doctor appointments. He is the one who flew to China for 3 weeks to bring Bea and Beck home. He is the one who spent night after night in the hospital with Bea for her first open heart surgery. He is the one who will fly to Stanford with Beck. And he is our leader following our Leader and Bea and Beck's stories are just as much (if not more) his stories to tell as they are mine.

Fortunately my husband is a great sport and also full of heartfelt perspective. He always sees things clearly
and has a way with words...not too many, usually just enough. But, when Brodie cares to share, I listen.

It's a privilege to be able to link to the post he has written today on 28 Days of Hearts, the heart of a father of 2 little ones living with CHD poured out for the Lord, useable. I'm so proud of Brodie and the way he loves our children, the way he loves Jesus. It's his love for his own Father God that fuels his love for those he cares for, including me, their mama. I'll let him share the rest here:
