(A rainbow of bikes all ready to gooooo....)
We sat in our devotion circle for what would be the last time. There have been many lasts in the place we've called home.
And there will be many firsts. In pjs with wet hair, we gathered. We began to sing familiar worship,
offering what we have to God...which at the moment isn't much beyond devotion. Jesus loves devotion.
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind."
Luke 10:27
It is The LOVE Month, after all. What better time to refine our focus on that which really matters.
"Let all that you do be done in love."
1 Corinthians 16:14
Near to the last, an old staple with a story behind it beckoned we all join in, so we sang:
"Jesus...Jesus...Jesus. There's just something about that name."
And with those words, my heart full of sentiment and memories,
brimming with what would have been tears, was comforted in an extraordinary way.
"Master...Savior...Jesus. Like the fragrance after the rain."
Of course it had to rain on moving day, the one rainy day all week amid sunny skies for miles. Could this be a sign from our Lord?
Was it His purpose to rain down on us blessings from above that we might see Him in the storm?
"Jesus...Jesus...Jesus. Let all heaven and earth proclaim.
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away. But there's something about that name."
Though all of our circumstances are changing. Though everything familiar is gone. Though we look left and right and see new uncharted territory, it is clear that Jesus is the same. Indeed, the same God we've loved and served with devotion in our home of 10+ years, the same God who led Moses where he too hadn't been, the same God who loves us enough to send His son, Jesus, He is with us now and He will be with us wherever we go. He will be with us for all eternity, this Captivator worthy of our devotion. He remains our focus.
He remains the same. The thought of Him stirs stability through swirling circumstantial uncertainties.
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
Hebrew 13:8
Jesus. He is who we live for, live with no matter where we live. Yes, Jesus is the goal.
And He is the same God, our Comforter in discomfort, the One who never changes though everything is changing.
So, we fix our eyes on Him as we set out from here, thankful that we go with the same God.
"For I the Lord do not change."
Malachi 3:6
