BY GOD'S GRACE, MAY OUR FAMILY TREE BEAR GOOD FRUIT AS WE GROW TO KNOW & LOVE HIM MORE EACH DAY.

BIKE RIDE WITH MY BOY

He wanted to show me something special. He'd mentioned it for days. The time had come and we set out, but instead of walking we rode. We rode and talked and talked and rode...all the way to and then past our destination and eventually all the way home.

As we peddled and laughed along the way, chilly sunset ocean air breezed through our ears and coats.
I looked into my boy's kind eyes...He's so handsome, I thought. What a sweet gentleman he is.

It dawned on me just then on our bikes how much my boy has grown. "Maturity does wonders," I've reminded myself countless times over the years. And here we are in real life time, maturity taking root. There hasn't been a day that I haven't prayed for harvest and I'm not stopping now. Never. By your grace, Lord Jesus, may this boy of mine, soon to be a man, only continue to grow more and more like you! May his music and heart and life and time be saturated with fragrant offerings for you!

I cherish the moments of precious time with my Brodie just the way he is right now...13. This bike ride with him encouraged me, reminded me what we labor for. I found myself fighting back tears a few times as we rode and shared our hearts. It felt like yesterday his daddy and I rode our beach cruisers like that without a care in the world! (And no clue where we were heading if we're honest.) How gracious the Lord has been to us. How loving, patient, kind. And I could see in my son's eyes as we rode that he will be like his dad, a good man, a godly man. He will be. I know that countenance well. It was a weighty moment for my mother's heart, the bike ride with my boy.

"As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit."
Matthew 13:23
